D-Day
Operation Overlord
Allies open a second front in France against the Germans
Land on five beaches named Utah and Omaha (American) Juno
(Canadian) Sword and gold (British and Polish)
Rommel felt that whoever won the beaches that day would win the war.
Okay with sacrificing the polish troops. Polish troops fighting polish troops in Normandy on D-Day.
Rommel was in charge of the African core. In charge of defending the Atlantic wall.
Allies managed to secure a beach hold. Less than a year before they fully defeat Germany.

Subjunctive question: Would the US have been able to impact the war in the same way if they had fought from Africa up only instead of landing in Normandy?
