The Weimar Republic was formed in Germany after the end of WWI. This republic had a constitution that was made with the treaty of Versailles as a foundation. Spartakist was a communist party that formed in Germany. Later they tried to take over Berlin but were brutally put down by the Friekorps. later on the Friekorps were asked to disband, but their leader marched into Berlin to try to take it over, but a general strike ended their plans in their tracks. The republic had challenges internally and externally to who or what they should believe in, but the interior conflicts were much greater than the pressure put on them by the allies.
Benito Mussolini was building his own force in Italy. Mussolini used a Paramilitary force to intimidate his way into power. he came into power in 1923 after a march to Rome. He also had the Acerbo law which conceded him 2/3 seats for every decision which was setting the tone for years to come. He also managed to get the Catholic Church in his pocket as it was the last grand remaining power in Italy that wasn't under his control. He gave the Church their right to rule their own state (The Vatican) in exchange for Catholicism to become the only official religion in italy. These acts set up mussolini to be an unchallenged dictator in Italy who would play a great role in years to come.
